- Our hike today started in Rates, Portugal and ended 9.7 miles later at this lovely 16th century monastery that is now a privately owned bed and breakfast surrounded by 35 acres of beautiful private grounds. The Quinta do Convento da Franqueira was a very welcome site after walking through fields and up mountains to view beautiful sights.
It was a great day!
